I love this little basket, its great for beginners and also one for people who'd like to explore framework, have an interest in willow and soft fibres and a love the simple beauty to be found in the humble stick! We will begin by choosing which piece of wood to use as our handle and then learn how to drill the holes to accommodate the ribs for us to weave between. We will explore patterns of weaving with the willow and have opportunity to learn what other plant fibres such as rush and willow bark can be woven into our baskets. If you would like to add other plant fibres in addition to the willow, you can lean how to make cordage or different sorts of plaits. These lovely baskets can either be functional and hold fruit or nuts or they can also be decorative, you choose! The shape can also be adapted so they can be a wall hanging basket for useful things by the door. A Very versatile design. All materials included including a selection of sticks, but you are encouraged to bring some stick options for your handles as its part of the fun! The wood of the stick needs to be dry and around 3-4 cm diameter.
